James “Jimmy” Elbert Clemmons, of Wilmington, died Friday, June 5, 2015, at the age of 82.

He was born in Supply on Nov. 7, 1932, to Ethel (Doll) and John Thomas Clemmons. He was preceded in death by his parents and all six siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lucille; their children, Russell and wife Caroline, Yvonne and husband Jimmy and Lonnie and wife Leslie; along with six grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Shane, Kayla, Hunter Leigh and husband Andrew and Michael.

After leaving the farm, James worked in the Spofford Mills Cotton Mill until it closed in 1967 and then worked for Champion Parts Rebuilders as a supervisor until it closed. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, oystering, clamming and planting a garden. James also enjoyed working with his hands and helping his family, friends and neighbors. He will truly be missed and memories of him will be cherished by those of us whose lives have been enriched by him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Andrews Valley Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
