Gerald “Jerry” David Stomski, of Hampstead, died May 31, 2015, at Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill. He was 59. Senator Robert J. Kane led the Connecticut General Assembly in a moment of silence for him on Monday morning, June 1, 2015.

He was the husband of 35 years to his wife, Joan; father of four children, Sarah, Andrea, Andrew and Hannah; and grandfather to five grandchildren.

Jerry was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Jan. 8, 1956, son of the late Benny and Helen Stomski. He graduated from Lenox Memorial High School in Lenox, Massachusetts in 1974 where he met his wife. He went on to receive his associates in plant and soil science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1978.

He moved to Woodbury, Connecticut where he raised his family and became an irreplaceable member of the community. He ran his a successful landscaping business for 30 years before being elected first selectman in Woodbury, Connecticut. He moved to Hampstead last year with his wife with plans of retirement.

A funeral will be held June 26, 2015, at St. Ann Church in Lenox, Massachusetts.
