image002 (4)Meg Caswell, national interior design personality and winner of HGTV’s sixth season of “Design Star,” has opened a home design shop and interior design firm in downtown Wilmington.

Caswell’s store, Fifth & Castle, is located in the historic firehouse at 602 S. Fifth Avenue, the newest addition to Castle Street’s art and antique district.

The new home design shop features Caswell’s unique take on the interior design styles of the Cape Fear region combined with her signature approach to design, showcased through new and vintage furniture, unique lighting, accessories, art and throw pillows, according to a news release. Caswell will offer design and decorating classes and workshops at Fifth & Castle, which will also serve as the base for her interior design business.

The new home design shop also offers customers an extensive selection of fabric designs to choose from for everything from furniture upholstery to window treatments, as well as numerous wallpaper designs. Customers can work with Caswell to create their own unique look, or they can pick and choose fabrics from Fifth & Castle’s extensive special-order selections, according to the news release.

Caswell will host a ribbon-cutting event at 10 a.m. June 5. N.C. Rep. Susi Hamilton and Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo will be on hand to celebrate the grand opening.

Food and refreshments will be provided at Friday’s ribbon cutting. A portion of the proceeds from Fifth & Castle’s sales the weekend of June 5-7 will benefit Welcome Home Angel, a Wilmington-based organization that provides bedroom makeovers for children who have suffered a serious illness or injury.
