Keith William Spivey, of Wilmington, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was 55.

Keith was born Sept. 12, 1959, the son of Doris Byrum Spivey and the late Crowell Spivey. He was the youngest of five children. He was preceded in death by his son, Dakota Nathaniel; brother, Raymond Jones; and father, Crowell Spivey.

He is survived by his mother, Doris and his brothers, Doug, Wayne and Darrell. Keith also leaves behind his beloved pets, Mulligan, Saber, Pepe and Roxy.

Keith proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS O’Bannon from April 1984 until April 1987. He was the recipient of numerous awards during his service. Keith was a heck of a golfer and 100% UNC Tar Heel fan.

He lovingly cared for his elderly parents with help from his special niece, Jennifer Grooms, and he had a special love for Jennifer, Jules and William.

Although Keith’s life was brief he made the best life he could for his wife Jami and son Colt.

The family would like to thank Keith’s aunt Dorothy English, his cousin Gary English and all the Corning employees who have shown so much love for Keith and his family.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Keith Memorial Fund, 1 Credit Union Plaza, Corning, NY 14830 for Colt’s tuition or to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
