William Henry “Bill” Sebrell, of Wilmington, died May 29, 2015, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 76.

He was born Oct. 16, 1938, son of the late William H. Sebrell Sr. and Hester Atkinson Sebrell Cavenaugh.

Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha M. Sebrell; a son, William (Billy) H. Sebrell III and wife, Dawn Dubay, of Wilmington; daughter, Sheilah Sebrell Blomquist and husband, Robert, of Elkton, Maryland; stepdaughter, Elizabeth M. Rabon and husband, Ronnie, of Leland; a brother, Jay Sebrell and wife, Judy, of Ivanhoe; two sisters, Joanna Sebrell Carter and husband, Walter and Maragret Sebrell Fussell Twiford and husband, Bob, of Castle Hayne; two stepsisters, Gwen Cavenaugh Furlough, of Wilmington and Carolyn Cavenaugh Fussell, of Rose Hill; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a 1958 graduate of New Hanover High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard for six years and umpired many local baseball and softball games.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 3801 N. College Road, Castle Hayne, NC 28429, where Bill was a lifetime member. Burial will be held at Oakdale Cemetery. Officiating will be Wayne McBride and Robert Erkstam.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church or a church of your own choice.
