Howard Lee Retchin died May 28, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice after a brave battle against cancer. He was 58.
Howard was born Dec. 3, 1956, in Charlotte, the son of Pearl and Daniel Retchin.
He is survived by his wife, Olga; his parents; his brother, Sheldon, wife Tracy and their children, Sarah, Michael and Matthew, of Columbus, Ohio; and his brother Larry, wife Carol and their daughter, Sophia, of Wilmington.
Howard graduated from Hoggard High School in 1975 and later from the University of Florida. He was an avid sports fan of any sport both collegiate and professional and especially his beloved Florida Gators. Some may remember his Lee Howard radio call-in sports show, which showcased his extensive knowledge of sports events and personalities. He also served as president in the operation of his family-owned Carolina Furniture Company.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the B’nai Israel Cemetery, 300 N. 18th St., Wilmington. A memorial service follow at 8 p.m. at his parents’ home.
