A Leland teen faces armed robbery and drug charges after his arrest in Bladen County on Thursday.
Da’Andre Kiheem Smith, 16, of Moore Street in Leland, was arrested off N.C. 211 in Clarkton after a traffic stop at about 7 p.m. Thursday, according to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Emily Flax.
Smith has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with an armed robbery reported at the Leland Supermarket, 1393 Lanvale Road, at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Flax said. No one was injured during the incident.
According to an arrest warrant, Smith is charged with taking $240 in cash and a pack of cigarettes from the business.
In addition to the armed robbery charge, Smith faces attempted breaking and entering in connection with an incident that occurred at the Leland Supermarket on March 17, Flax said. He is also charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and manufacturing a schedule VI controlled substance.
Smith was booked at the Brunswick County jail under a $1.1 million secured bond.
