The UNCW Seahawk Club will host a watch party for the Seahawks’ NCAA Regional game against Tulance on Friday.
Fans are invited to watch the game, which will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.com, at Buffalo Wild Wings, 206 Old Eastwood Road, Wilmington. First pitch between UNCW and Green Wave is slated for 8 p.m.
Now 39-16 overall on the season, the Seahawks earned their seventh NCAA appearance after winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship last weekend with a 7-6 victory over College of Charleston.
Tulane defeated UNCW 8-4 eariler this year at Brooks Field and looking to qualify for the super regional for the first time since 2004.
The four-team Baton Rouge Regional also features No. 2 national seed LSU and Patriot League champion Lehigh.
LSU is one of three schools to win six national titles in the 68-year history of the College World Series, claiming championships in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2009. The other schools are Southern California (12) and Texas (six).
Lehigh is making its second NCAA Regional appearance and first since 2006.
The double elimination tournament opens with LSU and Lehigh at 4 p.m., followed by UNCW and Tulane. The winner’s square off on Saturday at 9 p.m., while the losers play an elimination game at 4 p.m.
The 16 regional winners advance to super regionals next week, and the final eight go to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning June 13.
