James Paul McSwain, of Wilmington, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was 86.
He was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Hamlet, the son of the late James Paul Web and Mary Carolyn McSwain.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a chemical engineer for AT&T and received his master’s degree from Princeton University. James enjoyed spending his time at the beach and with his friends for breakfast at the McDonalds in Carolina Beach, who were lovingly referred to as the “McMafia.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie J. McSwain; four children; two stepchildren; one grandchild; five step-grandchildren; a feline companion, Chloe; canine companion, Lucy; along with numerous other loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the home.
