Wyatt Gordon Jr., of Oak Island, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the age of 68.
Mr. Gordon was born Sept. 5, 1946, in Greensboro, son of the late Wyatt Albert Gordon Sr. and Dorothy Denton Gordon. Wyatt was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He lived and worked in Charlotte after graduating from University of North Carolina at Charlotte and went on to work in banking for First Citizens Bank and Trust Company.
Upon transferring to Southport with First Citizens, Wyatt and his family found their true home. He was a member of Southport Lions Club for 30 years. He sang tenor in his beloved Southport Baptist Church choir for 35 years. Wyatt had been an active real estate broker since 1984 and had been affiliated with Margaret Rudd and Associates of Oak Island for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Madeleine Tew Gordon; daughter, Cynthia Diane Gordon, of Raleigh; daughter, Dorothy Lynn Cabrera, of Leland; two grandsons, Cameron Lee Short and Christian Agustin Cabrera; brothers, Michael Gordon (Brenda), of Charlotte and Randy Gordon (Becky), of Gastonia; and sister, Victoria Coker, of Charlotte.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Wyatt’s life at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at the sanctuary of Southport Baptist Church, 200 N. Howe St., Southport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southport Baptist Church Van Fund.
