Lou Ellen Hewett Midgette, former longtime resident of Ocean Isle Beach, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Marietta, Georgia.  She was 87.

She was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church where she and her late husband Charles Robert (Bob) Midgette were members. She participated in numerous church activities, including nursing home visitation, and accompanied her late sister Eva Hewett Gore in ministering through music to the residents.

She was born in Boones Neck (of which she was very proud) on Dec. 12, 1927, daughter of the late Sidney R. and Evy Fulford Hewett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert (Bob) Midgette; sister, Eva Hewett Gore; brother-in-law, Howard Gore; and brother, Carl A. Hewett.

Surviving are her brother, Roy Hewett (Mary), of Morgantown, West Virginia; her daughters, Jan Ziegler, of Marietta, Georgia, Sandy Murphy (Jim), of Marietta, Georgia and Martha Orndorff (Peter), of Woodbridge, Virginia; son, Robert (Bob) Midgette (Kim), of Haymarket, Virignia;  grandchildren,  Maury Smith-Ziegler, Christine Ziegler, Brian Ziegler, David Orndorff, Jennifer Smith (Orndorff), John Orndorff, Kelly Frazier (Midgette), Erin Midgette, Robbie Midgette, Karey Deihr (Midgette), Monica Krauss, Jill Butcher (Murphy) and Kate Johnson (Murphy); great-grandchildren;  David Orndorff Jr, Chris Orndorff, Kaitlyn Orndorff, Joseph Rohler, Michael Rohler, Terry Rohler, Zoey Orndorff, Jayden Orndorff, Kaley Frazier, Kolby Saunders, Austin Murphy, Aiden Murphy-Herzig, Eli Butcher, Denver Johnson, Lucy Johnson, Logan Johnson and Jack Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Jennies Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Robbie Stephens. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
