Crowell (Gene) Spivey of Wilmington, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 90.

“Gene” was born on July 20, 1924 in Whiteville, North Carolina. He was a veteran of World War II Patton’s Third Army.

He was the owner of the Jiffy Grill and the Chic-Chic Drive-In. During his later years, he was a sales associate with Schaeffer Buick.

He was an active member of the Lions Club, a member of the Admiral Club of the USS North Carolina and a longtime member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris B. Spivey of the home; four sons, Douglas Spivey and wife Jane of Texas, Wayne Spivey and wife Teresa of Wilmington, Darrell Spivey and wife Donna of Florida, Keith Spivey and wife Jami of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy English of Wilmington and Mildred Grossach of Florida.

A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Dr.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors to follow.
