Road work is underway on Carolina Beach Road, which requires crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (N.C. DOT) to close lanes nightly through next month.
The lane closures on Carolina Beach Road–between West Lake Shore Drive and Independence Boulevard–began Tuesday and will continue through June 26, according to a notice from the N.C. DOT.
Closures will take place daily, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. One lane in either direction will be closed as crews repair the road, which requires milling to remove the damaged and deteriorated pavement, and then repaving the road.
Although there will not be any detours, drivers are still urged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are also advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
