Nancy Nicholson Mangum, of Wilmington, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the age of 68.

She was born on Christmas Day 1946 in Wilmington, daughter of the late James and Ruth Haywood Nicholson, of Jacksonville. Nancy was preceded in death by a grandson, George Chesnutt.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Billy Mangum; children, Marvin Mangum (Liz Hamilton), of Henderson, Nevada, Tracey Mangum Chesnutt (Warren), of Cedar Point and James Mangum, of Biloxi, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tripp Chesnutt, Claire Chesnutt and Kelly Mangum; step-grandchildren, Jack and Kate Hamilton, Lillian Dawson (Abner) and James Nicholson (Twyla); and three nieces.

Nancy graduated from Jacksonville High School, class of 1965. She married her high school sweetheart Billy that same year. Nancy was an avid tennis player and mahjong enthusiast. She was loved by all and always had a kind word to share about others. But above all, family was Nancy’s greatest passion and she will be deeply missed by all those she leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
