The U.S.S. North Carolina will host its annual Memorial Day observance aboard the WWII ship at 5:45 tonight.

The event is free and will include Duke Ladd Music performing military and patriotic arrangements. Guest speakers include U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, R-North Carolina, and Maj. Gen. Gregory A. Lusk, Adjutant General of the North Carolina National Guard.

The New Hanover County Veterans Council will host an Memorial Day observance at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wilmington National Cemetery, 2011 Market St., Wilmington.
