Wanted Shallotte man in custody on multiple drug charges

A Shallotte man wanted in connection with multiple drug charges has turned himself in to authorities.

Joe Junior Bell, 34, of Hale Swamp Road, was arrested Tuesday morning, according to Emily Flax, spokeswoman for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Bell is charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking MDMA, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver MDMA, maintaining a dwelling used for keeping and selling heroin and MDMA, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to arrest warrants.

“A search warrant of Bell’s residence yielded the unit seizing over 1,000 bags of heroin, 161 grams of MDMA and over $13,000 in cash,” Flax said.

Bell was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he is being held under a $750,000 secured bond.
