Virginia Driggers Patrick, 90, remembered for strength, sense of humor, nurturing ways

Virginia Driggers Patrick, of Wilmington, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was 90.

She was born May 8, 1925, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Wilbur Driggers and Pearl Weaver Driggers. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Carey Patrick Jr. and sons, Donald Patrick and Alan Ray Patrick.

Virginia was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. Her strength, sense of humor and nurturing ways will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gail and Ronnie; grandchildren, Hailey (Adam), Brittney (Josh), Dawn (Rocky), Scotty and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Jaylynn, Cameron, Sadren and Lacibella; and numerous other loving family members.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
