Robert “Bob” Franklin Renegar Sr., of Wilmington, died May 16, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was 78.

He was born in Yadkin County on June 29, 1936, son of the late Arthur and Cora Mabe Renegar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gray Renegar and Fred Renegar.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jeanie Renegar; sons, Robert “Bobby” Franklin Renegar Jr. and wife, Jennifer Futch and Patrick “Patch” Allison and wife, Jennifer Guidice; grandchildren, John, Allison, Jackson and Nathan Renegar; sister, Peggy Allgood, of Cary; sister-in-law, Avonell Renegar, of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob began his engineering career with Western Electric in Winston-Salem in 1958. He then moved to Bell Labs in Greensboro in 1962. He worked on special assignment with White Sands Missile Range, White Sands, New Mexico. Bob moved to Wilmington in 1966 with Southern Bell where he would retire after 37 years with Bellsouth. He recommenced employment with TELICS Telecommunications & Industrial Consulting Services Corporation for another 10 years before finally retiring again.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Pine Valley Baptist Church, where Bob was a member, trustee and deacon. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pine Valley Baptist Church – Youth Building, 3940 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC 28403 and National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, c/o The Stamp Defiance Chapter, 1517 Edgefield Court, Leland, NC 28451.
