Joseph William Marshall Jr., of Oak Island, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his home. He was 93.
Mr. Marshall was born March 7, 1922, son of the late Joseph Marshall Sr. and Rebecca Hines Marshall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served in WWII aboard the USCG Tampa. Mr. Marshall retired from McLean Trucking in Winston-Salem. He was a 50+ year member of the Palestine Lodge #189, a member of the Moose Lodge and a life member of Oak Island Golf and Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Natalie Dauses and wife, Irene Louise Marshall.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Gawel and husband, Ted, of Bradenton, Florida, Susan Taylor and boyfriend, Garry Morfit, of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Nina Sherrod and husband, Neal, of Louisburg; grandchildren, Kirk, Randy, Amanda, Jason, Lauren, Marshall and Jackson; and his friend and caregiver of 10 years, Kim Pitts, of Southport.
A private service will be held at a later date.
