Newly signed Aodhan Quinn provided his first goal of the season as Louisville City FC found the back of the net twice more in the opening half to shutout Wilmington Hammerheads FC 3-0 on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Wilmington was held scoreless over its two game road trip and fell to 1-5-2 this year, while Louisville City FC improved to 3-1-3 to remain in the top half of the United Soccer League’s Eastern Conference standings.
Midfielder Magnus Rasmussen recorded the opening tally in the 16th minute, while Quinn and Conor Shanosky found the back of the net within minutes of each other late in the opening period.
Louisville City FC goalkeeper Scott Godwin posted his third clean sheet of the season after stopping a pair of attempts by Sunny Jane, who took two of the four recorded shots for Wilmington.
With five points in the standings, the Hammerheads stand 10th out of the 12-team Eastern Conference and return to the pitch at Legion Stadium in Wilmington to face the league-leading Rochester Rhinos on Saturday, May 16. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
