Wilber Gerson Hewett, 67, retired dredge boat steward, engineer

Wilber Gerson Hewett, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the age of 67.

Born in Brunswick County on Dec. 17, 1947, he was a son of the late Wilber Cross and Mable Ann Simmons Hewett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Arnsdorff. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired dredge boat steward and engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Rosalind “Roz” Taylor Hewett; son, Tony Allen Arnsdorff, of Guyton, Georgia; daughter, Terry Ann Hair, of Supply; brother, Steve Hewett, of Wilson; sisters, Marguerite Carr, of Winston-Salem, Priscilla Andrews, of Sunset Beach and Dean Carroll, of Shallotte; special grandchild, Lacie Rome; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2014, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
