Martha Cooper Ingold, of Wilmington, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, with her children at her side. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late William Clifford and Frances Ray Johnson Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Foreman Ingold and her brother, Billy Cooper.

After earning her degree as a registered nurse at Watts Hospital in Durham, she moved to Mt. Gilead. On her first day there, she met Bill Ingold who would later become her husband.

Surviving are her children, Laura Ingold, of Greensboro, Charles Ingold and wife, Kay, of Wilmington and Alan Ingold and wife, Toni, of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Jason, Joshua and wife, Nicki, McKenzie and her fiancé, Matty, William, Cooper and Gerrad; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Cameron; and her very close first cousins as well as Billy’s family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Oakdale Cemetery.
