Wilmington Downtown Inc. (WDI) is accepting applications for at-large positions for its 2015-2016 board of directors. The 36-member board includes representatives of downtown businesses, civic organizations, governmental bodies, professional groups and members of the community at-large, according to WDI President and CEO Ed Wolverton.
The terms are staggered, so approximately half of the board is up for re-election each year.
“To help with this very competitive process, WDI is looking for people who have a vested interest in downtown,” Wolverton said. “Experienced people with skills in business recruitment, business retention, quality of life issues, long-range urban planning, downtown promotions, events, fundraising, media relations or organizational development are encouraged to apply.”
WDI’s mission is to promote the economic growth and development of downtown Wilmington. By fulfilling this mission, Downtown Wilmington is the culturally vibrant and economically prosperous center of the southeast region, and is recognized nationally for its outstanding quality of life, Wolverton said.
Anyone interested in serving on the board is asked to return this form by 4 p.m. May 22 by emailing email@example.com or faxing the form to (910) 343-6950. The election will take place at the organization’s annual meeting on June 24.
