Topsail cruised to the Mideastern Conference Tournament Finals following a 10-0 win over West Brunswick on Tuesday.

Danny Wilson tossed five shutout innings and struck out seven, while Jake Madole paced the Pirates with three hits and three runs batted in.

Trader Flora put the home side on the board with an RBI single to spark a four run third and the Pirates put the game away with four more in the fourth. Clark Cota went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Pirates improved to 22-2 overall and face New Hanover on Thursday. The Trojans qualified for the 3A state playoffs and will learn their seed this weekend.

New Hanover 1     Hoggard 0

After dropping both regular season games to the Vikings in the final inning earlier this year, Max Johnson delivered a solo home run in the top of the seventh to lift New Hanover past Hoggard 1-0 on Tuesday.

Johnson’s round tripper was the only run of the ballgame as Caleb Bishop tossed a complete-game shutout to record the victory. Bishop struck out seven in the effort, allowing just one hit and two walks.

Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Adam Pecoraro and Cory Everett each picked up a hit for the Wildcats.

New Hanover faces Topsail in the tournament finals on Thursday. Hoggard will learn its seed for the upcoming 4A state playoffs over the weekend.

West Brunswick 2     Laney 1

After splitting a pair of one-run games during the regular season, West Brunswick edged Laney 2-1 on Tuesday to advance to the Mideastern Conference Tournament Finals.

The Trojans took an early 1-0 lead and Leilani Emile made it a two-run game with a solo shot in the fourth.

The Bucs were able to get one back to close the deficit before leaving the bases loaded in the sixth.

The Trojans travel to Hampstead for a date with top-seeded Topsail on Thursday.
