George Michael Williams Jr., of Wilmington, died Monday, May 4, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was 69.

He was born in Henderson, Nevada on Nov. 27, 1945, son of the late George Michael Williams and Jean Perry Williams.

He was a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Navy submarine Skipjack. He was an assistant manager with Walmart stores for 20 years and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sailing his boat, the Chardonnay.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Patricia Burns Williams; a daughter, Amy Milcendeau (Patrick); four sons, George Michael Williams III (Kristin), John Phillip Williams (Stacey), Christopher Scott Williams (Christina) and Patrick Brian Williams (Ashlee); 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Mason (Stan), Suzanne Jackson (Gene) and Alice Byrd; and one brother, Christopher Williams. Three brothers preceded him in death, Walter Williams, Jerome Williams and Thomas Williams.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, with the Rev. John McGee officiating. Military honors will be accorded.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
