Mitchell “Mitch” Loyd James, of Wilmington, died peacefully on May 3, 2015, at the age of 65.

Mitch suffered through five years of kidney dialysis and suffered recently from a massive stroke, pneumonia and related complications.

Mitch is survived by a brother, Jerry Wayne James and wife, Teresa, of Castle Hayne; nephew, Christopher James; nephew, Charles James and children; and niece, Regina James and her son, Reid.

Mitch was born July 14, 1949, in Wilmington and had no children. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Loyd (H.L) James and Veatta Mills James.

Mitch worked for Block Manufacturing in Wilmington for many years until they closed in the late 1990s.  He then worked for UMS until his sickness forced him into disability. Mitch loved sports cars and enjoyed visiting car shows and reliving his life experiences with these cars when he was able to attend.

We express our appreciation for staff and friends from Fellowship Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church and friends who visited Mitch during his final days. Thank you for honoring Mitch with your time and prayers.

Memorials in honor of Mitch may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. This loving and gracious staff of caregivers provided comfort for the patient and his family in the final days of Mitch’s journey home to GOD.
