Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Leland man wanted in connection with the theft of nearly $14,000 of lawn and construction equipment.
Ryan Tyler Duffy, 23, of Holly Hills Drive, was booked at the Brunswick County jail on Thursday, charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, felony larceny, two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, according to sheriff’s office spokeswoman Emily Flax.
According to an arrest warrant, Duffy is charged with breaking into the American Land Management building, 9100 Lackey Road in Leland, and taking a chain saw, laptop computer, tree-climbing equipment and other tools on March 27. The property was estimated at nearly $9,000.
Duffy is also charged with the theft of construction equipment valued at about $5,000 from a man on Jan. 6. Flax said the materials came from an I-140 construction site near Dyson Drive and Mount Misery Road.
He was booked under a $110,000 secured bond.
