Pine Valley Elementary was placed in lockdown status this morning following a threatening phone call.

A New Hanover County Schools spokeswoman confirmed the shelter in place, which occurred a little after 10 a.m. after a panic alarm was set off at the school.

Valita Quattlebaum, public information officer for the district, said the alarm was sounded after the school received the threatening call.

Law enforcement responded to the scene to assess the situation. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 10:45 a.m.
