UNCW blanked Drexel 3-0 in a dual match on Wednesday at the Cape Fear Country Club in the final tune-up for this weekend’s Colonial Athletic Association championships in Southport, N.C.
Cape Fear Academy graduate and Seahawks freshman Ross Robison picked up a big win in the first match when he defeated Chris Crawford, the CAA’s top-rated golfer, 2 and 1.
In the second match, a foursome alternate shot format, Pat Cover and Thomas Eldridge knocked off Drexel’s Yoseph Dance and Adam Mistretta, 4 and 2.
The final match was four-ball, best ball format. Grant Houser and Preston Harrington combined to upend Drexel’s Brian Fischer and Avery Schneider, four and two.
The Seahawks and Dragons head to Southport, N.C., this weekend for the CAA Championships, which will be held at St. James Plantation beginning on Friday. The 54-hole event continues on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
