Stella Lee “Patty” Spencer Jones, of Shallotte, died April 21, 2015, at the age of 81.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1933, in New Hanover County, a daughter of the late Frederick Woodrow and Catherine Lewis Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Bobby Spencer and Fred Spencer Jr.; daughter, Donna Jones; and her husband, Clyde Roscoe Jones.
Mrs. Jones retired from Brunswick County Library as the driver of The Book Mobile. She will always be known for being adventurous. She obtained her pilot’s license and her motorcycle license. Mrs. Jones was a member of Village Point UMC, where she served unselfishly as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Shirley Moore and husband, Reggie, of Winnabow; her son, C.R. Jones, of Shallotte; brother, Danny Spencer, of Grover, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Reggie Wendol Moore Jr. and wife, Cyndie and Selena Quinn; and two great-grandchildren, Karleigh Quinn and Kayla Eason.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Rev. Jason L. Benton. Burial was held at Gurganus Cemetery. Casketbearers were Reggie Moore, Wendol Moore, Kevin Robbins, Brent Phillips, Edward Thorton and Alfred Willetts.

Mrs. Patty was a dedicated and beloved mother to her children. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her.
