Lloyd Earl ‘Rachetman’ Malpass, 74, spent his life fishing, racing

Lloyd Earl “Rachetman” Malpass, of Leland, died April 23, 2015, at the age of 74.

He was born on March 18, 1941, in Delco, son of the late Elbert and Gertrude Miller Malpass, of Delco. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alan Malpass, of Delco and one son, Mark Lloyd Malpass, of Delco, .

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Catherine Holden Malpass, of the home; three daughters, Linda (Ricky) Todd, of Leland, Roberta Sykes, of Riegelwood and Rose Mary Malpass, of Leland; three sons, Roger (Angela) Malpass, of Delco, Ronnie Malpass, of Leland and Eddie Dean Malpass, of Florida; three sisters, Gail Long, of Delco, Edith Robbins, of Delco and Carolyn Jean Purell, of Lexington; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his best pal, Heidi.

He spent much of his life fishing and racing.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation followed by a service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Dean Malpass, Ronnie Malpass, Quinten Malpass, Richard Todd, Keith Todd and Jeremy Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be James “Root” Harper and Tommy Malpass
