Wilmington man charged in weekend hit-and-run

A Wilmington man was charged in a hit-and-run wreck that injured a 49-year-old motorcyclist on Sunday.

James Matt Booth, 26, was arrested Tuesday in connection with a wreck at the intersection of Wrightsville and Greenville avenues at 6:42 p.m. Sunday, according to Wilmington Police Department Cpl. Leslie Irving.

A motorcyclist was driving west on Wrightsville Avenue when he was struck by a truck that turned in front the motorcycle. The truck continued on Greenville Avenue toward Oleander Drive, Irving said.

The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Booth was charged with hit-and-run with injury and failure to yield with serious injury, according to court records. He was booked at the New Hanover County jail under a $3,500 secured bond and later released.
