Carolyn Thompson Williams, of Wilmington, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at the age of 66.

She was born on March, 17, 1949, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Charles Henry Thompson and Margurite Odessa Thompson.

Carolyn was part of the first graduating class at UNCW to receive her master’s degree in education. She enjoyed teaching for 30 years in the Brunswick County School System, most of those years spent at Leland Middle School. She was a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a children’s church teacher and a member of the Young at Heart Club (YAH’s).

She was a proud member of the Cape Fear Jewels Red Hat Society, SEANC, NC Retired School Personnel where she acted as recording secretary, NC Sorosis Women’s Club and NCAE . She also enjoyed doing volunteer/charity work such as Angel Tree and providing meals for hospice.

Carolyn also loved her friends and in the last few years created groups to reunite past friendships. She was a magnetic social butterfly creating gatherings for the Lake Forest Girls and Leland Middle School Retired Teachers.

Carolyn is survived by her four blessed children, Charles A. Williams Jr. and wife, Lynda, Melanie Huckaby and her husband, Monroe, Jason “Brent” Williams and Rebekah Carolynn Williams; her loving and very fortunate grandchildren, Margurite Huckaby, Monroe Huckaby, Charlie Williams and Haylie Williams; and her four-legged companion, Dynamite.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 423 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC 28405, with the Rev. Donnie Lovette officiating. Interment to follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
