Gloria “Livonia” Fowler Mintz, of Leland, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was 77.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Horry County, South Carolina, the only daughter of nine children born to Earl Monroe Fowler and Dola Gertrude Fowler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Waitus Mintz; brothers, JP Fowler, Larry Fowler, Toby Fowler, Marvin Fowler and Allen Fowler; and a grandson, Jason Lex Collins.
Gloria is survived by her children, Karen Roberts and husband, Jimmy, Ronald Mintz and wife, Martha and Chris Mintz and wife, Wendy; grandchildren, Brad Collins, Ashley Williams, Amanda Mintz and Justin Mintz; great-grandchildren, Garrett Collins, Kinley Collins, Shannon Sykes, Mason Collins and Angel Williams; brothers, Roy Fowler and wife, Cheryl, Roger Fowler and wife, Janice and Irvin Fowler and wife, Carol; and former son-in-law, Tim Collins.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Elah Missionary Baptist Church, 1527 Old Fayetteville Road N.E., Leland, NC 28451. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Long. Burial will be held at King Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Collins, Garrett Collins, Jessie Donothan, Bruce Fowler, Will Fowler and Justin Mintz
