Trey Croom allowed just two runs on eight hits in seven innings of work for the Wildcats. The senior struck out two and recorded the final out of the ballgame on a groundball to the left side with the bases loaded.

Lambert Long went 2-for-3to pace the New Hanover lineup.

The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third and held the Wildcat hitters at bay until Everett and Johnson delivered in the fifth after New Hanover put runners on first and second to lead off the inning.

Whiteville got one back in the sixth, but Croom shut the door in the seventh to put the finishing touches on a complete game effort as the right handed hurler wiggled out of a jam with the tying run 90 feet away.
