Students in Cape Fear Community College’s landscape gardening program have been cultivating plants in their greenhouses all winter long, and now the public can benefit from all their hard work.
The students will hold their annual spring plant sale on Thursday and Friday at CFCC Schwartz Center. The sale will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until supplies are exhausted on Friday, according to a news release from the college.
Hundreds of plants will be available, including bedding plants and heirloom vegetables. Two highlights for this year’s plants include “Celebrity” tomatoes–a tried and true producer of tennis ball sized slicers–and “Sweet Millions,” a prolific producer of cherry tomatoes, perfect for salads or snacking.
Prices vary, but start at $2.50 per plant. Plants can be purchased with cash or checks only. Proceeds from the sales will help support CFCC’s Landscape Gardening program. In the past, plants have sold quickly, so guests are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection.
