The New Hanover County Parks and Gardens Department has teamed up with The Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County and the Cape Fear Garden Club Civic Improvements Committee for an official azalea planting to kick off this year’s Plant an Azalea week.

The azalea planting will take place at 11 a.m. April 15 at Ogden Park, 615 Ogden Park Drive (near the tennis courts).  Cape Fear Garden Tour Azalea Belles, county officials and members of the Cape Fear Garden Club will be present and the public is invited to attend.

Plant an Azalea Week is held annually during April to promote planting of azaleas throughout the community to help return Wilmington to a “city of a million azaleas,” according to a notice from New Hanover County Parks and Gardens. The Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County holds several beautification events throughout the year to enhance New Hanover County parks.
