William “Bill” N. Wheeler, 94, lifelong chemical engineer

William “Bill” N. Wheeler died in his sleep on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. He was 94 years of age and had a rich and rewarding life full of love for all.

He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in chemical engineering and worked as such his entire life, both in Ohio and Wilmington. He served with distinction during WWII in the Philippine Islands where he drafted invasion maps of the Pacific Islands and mainland Japan. He attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Wilmington for over 40 years and served as both a Sunday school teacher and an elder.

He was the loving husband of Jean P. Wheeler, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his two children, Melissa W. Sloban and William Niles Wheeler Jr.; his brother, John Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will not be a service or viewing. A family interment will be held in his home state of Massachusetts. Those who remember Bill are encouraged to live with the kindness and charity he always exhibited.
