Ellen Lentz Zinner, 71, enjoyed feeding, watching birds in her backyard

Ellen Lentz Zinner, of Shallotte and formerly of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a very short illness. She was 71.

Born in Parryville, Pennsylvania on May 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Lentz Blose. Mrs. Zinner, after graduating from Palmerton High School, received her undergraduate and graduate degree in mathematics from Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania. She was a mathematics teacher for 10 years and then worked for the United Church of Christ, Pennsylvania Northeast Conference as a librarian where she retired.

She was a lifelong member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ. Mrs. Ellen was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in her backyard and shopping.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Gerald Zinner; a son, Greg Zinner, of Carolina Beach; a daughter, Bethany Zinner Lanza and husband, Edward, of Richmond, Virginia; and a sister, Linda Banko and husband, Edward, of Palmerton, Pennsylvania.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or to the United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, PA 18071.
