The Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office is seeking donations for its children’s room in recognition of child abuse prevention month and crime victims’ month, both of which are recognized in April.

The District Attorney’s Office is asking for toy donations and furnishings for its office in the Brunswick County courthouse, 310 Government Center Drive, Unit 2, Bolivia, according to Ashley Bullard, assistant to District Attorney Jon David.

“Unfortunately, many children come to our office as victims in abuse and sexual abuse cases. We have a children’s room within our office to help minimize the trauma,” Bullard said.

A children’s room furnished with toys will help the district attorney’s office provide a comfortable environment for children of abuse, Bullard said.

The district attorney’s office is seeking new toys only for all ages, but no stuffed animals.

Suggested items to donate include:

  • train/tracks
  • dollhouse
  • bookshelf
  • toy shelf
  • TV (flat screen)
  • DVDs
  • books
  • bean bags
  • Pack & Play
  • area rug
  • barbies

Drop-off locations include the Leland, Oak Island and Shallotte police departments and the District Attorney’s Office. The deadline for donations is April 30. For more information contact Jamie Turnage at (910) 253-4049.
