Topsail 11      Garner 1

Danny Wilson launched his fourth home run of the season and Topsail extended its win streak to 10 straight as the Pirates cruised past Garner 11-1 on Saturday.

Topsail broke open a scoreless ballgame with five runs in the bottom of the fourth and added five more in the fifth.

Wilson and Sam Luchansky drove in a pair of runs, while Sam Hall and Josh Madole collected two hit apiece. Bryce Cota struck out eight over 5.1 innings of work and Hall came on in relief to record the final outs for the combined no-hitter.

The Pirates improved to 15-1 overall and remain 5-1 in league play heading into Tuesday’s matchup against New Hanover at Legion Stadium.

New Hanover 8    Heathwood Hall (S.C.) 0

Trey Croom went 3-for-4 at the plate and three different Wildcats finished with two hits as New Hanover earned its second win in as many nights with a 8-0 shutout over Heathwood Hall. The Wildcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and made it a six-run game by plating four runs in the third.

Burke Estes, Corey Everett and Ward Coleman combined to go 6-for-9 to pace a New Hanover lineup, which pounded out 13 hits.

The Wildcats play host to Topsail in a battle between the top two teams in the Mideastern Conference on April 14.


Laney 11     North Myrtle Beach 1

Kennedy Hardy hit a home run as Laney picked up an 11-1 bounce-back win over North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Bucs finished with 16 hits in the game.
