Hattie Yvonne Naylor, of Wilmington, died April 8, 2015, at the age of 83.
She was born June 15, 1931. She grew up in a family of six brothers and one sister on a farm in Sampson County.
She is survived by her four daughters, Carolyn Park (Bill), Sylvia Naylor, Teresa Fish (Kevin) and Karen Law (Anthony); sister, Jeanette Wise; brother, Larry Tyndall (Judy); as well as nieces and nephews. She was blessed and extremely proud of her grandchildren, David Park (Jamie), Katherine
Park (Leon), Anthony Branch, Ryan Britt, Tyler Fish (Ashlee), Jeremy Fish and Megan Law. Spending time with her great-grandchildren, James and Oliver Park and Ellie, Kylee and Noah Fish, gave her much happiness. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Ralph Naylor.
She was a talented homemaker, seamstress and cook. Two of her daughters proudly wore wedding gowns made by their mom. Coconut cake, chocolate cake, coconut cream pie and chicken pastry were often requested by grandchildren, family and friends. Growing flowers was also one of her joys in life. She loved spring when she could begin looking for new varieties to plant. She was also an active member for at least 50 years and served as a board trustee at Olivet Baptist Church.
There will be a family visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at Andrews Mortuary on Market Street. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Her celebration of life will be delivered by Pastor Kane McKenzie.
