Anna Dempster Young, of St. James Plantation, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 99.

Born in New Texas, Pennsylvania on Nov. 24, 1915, she was a daughter of the late James and Ida Miller Lamont. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence S. Dempster Sr. in 1967 and her second husband, Edward Young in 1997.

She was a devout member of the Presbyterian Church and worked as a bookkeeper until the age of 85. Mrs. Young enjoyed playing her crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are her son, Larry Dempster and wife, Barbara, of St. James; a brother, Howard Lamont, of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Scott Dempster and Lori Popp and husband, Frank; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted in Pennsylvania at a later date.
