The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has announced its third NCHSAA Scholar-Athlete Essay Contest, sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard.
The program is one of the association’s most popular voluntary programs and recognizes excellence in the classroom and on the playing court or field, according to the association. The program includes recognition of varsity teams that attain certain grades, as well as individual athletes.
Student-athletes currently enrolled at an NCHSAA member school and participating in at least one sanctioned sport or cheerleading have until midnight April 30 to submit a 400 word essay answering the prompt: “How has becoming a scholar-athlete made a positive impact on your school/community?”
One male and female winner will be selected from the pool of entries to receive a prize pack from the North Carolina National Guard and the NCHSAA.
Essays will be judged on originality, content, organization of material, grammar, and spelling.
