Charles Pait, of Shallotte, died Monday, April 6, 2015, at the age of 81.

Born in Bladen County, he was a son of the late Isaac F. and Ellen Singletary Pait Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nada Scott Pait; brothers, Isaac, Ray, James, Roy and Thurman; and sister, Estelle Feltwell.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the construction industry. He attended Calvary Baptist Church and served as treasurer of his Sunday school class for over 20 years. He was a member of Dutch Fork Masonic Lodge #402 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was a charter member of the South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club.

Surviving are his daughter, Sue Ellen Arabis, of Columbia, Tennessee; sister, Betty White, of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from the graveside at Brunswick Memorial Gardens, Shallotte.
