New Hanover County employee Teresa Smith was recently approved by the North Carolina Emergency Management Certification Committee to receive the North Carolina Executive Emergency Manager certification.
The Executive Emergency Manager designation is the highest honor of professional achievement available from the North Carolina Emergency Management certification program.
“Teresa has worked diligently over the past seven years to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully complete this intensive certification program,” said Warren Lee, New Hanover County Emergency Management and 911 Director. “I commend her for her dedication and service to the citizens of New Hanover County and to North Carolina Emergency Management.”
The North Carolina Emergency Management Certification Committee approved applicants who successfully completed an extensive certification package to include a management essay and written examination. To maintain the certification, recipients must submit additional training and contributions to the profession every five years.
Smith has served New Hanover County Emergency Management since 2007.
