Good Friday, Easter closings in the Cape Fear region

Area city and county offices will be closed April 3 in observance of Good Friday. The following offices and agencies have announced holiday closings:

  • City of Wilmington offices will be closed April 3 and reopen for business April 6. Trash service will be unaffected by the closure. City customers who normally have their trash and yard waste picked up on Fridays are asked to have all items curbside by7:30 a.m. City recycling customers who are on the blue schedule and normally have their recycling collected on Fridays should place their recycling containers curbside by 7:30 a.m. as well. Customers can find out which week their recycling is picked up here.
  • All New Hanover County government offices will be closed April 3 and reopen April 6. All New Hanover County public libraries will be closed April 3-5 for the Easter holiday. Public libraries will reopen Monday.
  • All Brunswick County government offices will be closed Friday.
  • Carolina Beach Town Hall is closed Friday.
  • All ABC stores will be closed April 6 for Easter Monday. Stores will be open Friday. All eight retail ABC stores in new Hanover County will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Area attractions

  • The N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher will be open April 3 and will host an “Alligator Egg Hunt” at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The aquarium will remain open throughout Easter weekend. Click here for a calendar of events.
  • The U.S.S. North Carolina will remain open throughout Easter weekend. The battleship will host an Easter egg hunt carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
