Michelle Spearman, of Wilmington, died March 29, 2015, after a sudden illness. She was 44.
Michelle was born at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on Feb. 17, 1971, the same hospital that employed her for 10 years prior to her death. Michelle’s life revolved around her family, especially her children. She lived for baseball tournaments and chorus concerts. She devoted all of her energy to family time. There will be a great void left from her passing.
She was a PACU nurse. Before that she did everything from ICU to labor and delivery. She was a great nurse and will be missed by her co-workers and patients. Ask her co-workers and they will tell you that she had the biggest heart, a cheerful smile and treated her patients with great respect and compassion. She had a nickname by many, “Chatty Cathy” because she knew the life story of the families she helped before they left her sight. She truly had a magnetic personality and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Spearman; daughter, Maddie; son, Fisher; mother, Dot Lewis; brother and sister-in-law, David and Amanda Thorpe; sister and brother-in-law, Brandy and Timmy Herring; in-laws, Rob and Leslie Spearman; and in-laws, Meg and Steve Vasek.
