Brenda Kaye Allen, affectionately known as “Ma Kaye,” died on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 68.
She was born on March 24, 1947, the daughter of Sallie Faye Allen and the late Rev. John L. Allen.
Kaye was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She was a free-spirited soul who enjoyed family, friends, laughter and life. She was very passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Her most favorite pastimes were walking on the beach, collecting sea treasures and sharing her contagious smile.
She is survived by her brother, John L. Allen Jr. (spouse, Jane); her two daughters, Tamela “Tami” Carter (spouse, William) and Michelle J. Hallenbeck (spouse, Paul); six grandchildren, Brittany Blackman, Christopher Chafin, Chandler Bartz, William Carter, Michael Carter and Amanda Hallenbeck; and her beloved poodle, Amber Star.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, during a cruise aboard the Winner Cruise Queen anchored at 100 Carl Winner Ave., Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Departure is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., returning at 3:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank all of the health care providers and volunteers for the care given and our many friends for all the acts of kindness and support during this difficult time.
