Peyton Jordan made three appearances in the opening three games of the season.

“Peyton had great command of her pitches all weekend,” said UNCW Head Coach Kristy Norton. “I thought she showed great poise to close out the last inning for her first collegiate win when she went strike out, pop-out, strike out.”

A native of Waxhaw,  Jordan allowed four unearned runs, while striking out 10 and walking just two in 12.1 innings in the circle.

Jordan began the tournament with a four-hit shutout of Maryland-Eastern Shore in a collegiate debut that saw her strike out eight in the 7-0 victory. She came back and surrendered four unearned runs in 5.1 innings of relief work in games against Elon and Charleston Southern.

The Seahawks (1-2) are scheduled to return to action Friday as they open the home portion of their 2014 schedule with games against Norfolk State (2 p.m.) and UMBC (4:30 p.m.) as part of the Seahawk Invitational.
